Laura McMahan, DVM

Dr. Laura McMahan received her degree from Texas A & M University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 1993.  Her first two years of practice was with a mixed animal clinic in Lake Dallas, Texas.  After completing a surgical internship at Dallas Veterinary Surgical Center, she practiced  the next five years as an emergency veterinarian in Plano. She and her family later moved to Madisonville, Texas where she opened her own small animal practice.

In 2011, looking for a more academically challenging environment for her growing children, Dr. McMahan decided to move to The Woodlands. There, she joined a small animal practice while pursuing her passion for pain management and geriatric care. She is certified in veterinary acupuncture, has participated in laser therapy training, and continues to further her education in areas such as physical therapy and medical massage for pets.

Wanting to offer more personalized veterinary service, Dr. McMahan created HousePaws In-Home Veterinary Care.  She is excited to offer customized, mobile vet care for her patients in and around The Woodlands area.  Dr. McMahan believes an in-home service will give more options to pet parents.

Dr. McMahan is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, International Veterinary Acupuncture Society, International Association for Animal Hospice and Palliative Care, and the International Veterinary Association of Pain Management. In her leisure time, she enjoys hiking and exploring the great outdoors with her two and four legged family members.
